Sometimes A Small Compliment is All It Takes

Sometimes A Small Compliment is All It Takes

Last week I took a day to work from home in the morning as I had my annual check-up scheduled in the early afternoon. After my check-up (which went fine), I took some time to do some local errands.

It was a rainy day and I was in really a blah mood. I rushed into Costco with a frown on my face and my head down. Suddenly a woman stopped me, which initially frightened me, as I was lost in my blah thoughts. She quickly told me that she wanted to say she really liked my overalls and wanted to know where I had purchased them. I happily gave her the store name and we said our good-byes.

The tone of my entire day changed with that short two-minute exchange. I started smiling and my mood immediately lightened. It amazed me what a single compliment could do to my entire attitude.

Like the woman who stopped me, I will readily offer compliments to strangers. Do you?
