When I was young I had no direction and wondered aimlessly and accomplished little. I can't pinpoint the moment in time when my self hatred overwhelmed my sloth, but there was a metamorphosis as I got into sports and athletics. I learned about training and getting into shape as a competitive necessity.
It's been a long time coming, but, to echo Ella Fitzgerald, “Bye, Bye, Blackberry”. Until recently, I’ve been in denial of the imminent demise of my Blackberry. In the face of those around me -- mostly former Blackberry users -- who scoffed at the device in my hands, I held on (literally) to my trusted Blackberry 9000.
What can I close on today?  It is a common sales technique, but like most sales techniques, it applies to other parts of life as well.
I am partial to certain restaurants. My favorite haunt with friends is a local place called Tesoro in Westbury on Long Island. The food is always good and the owner greets you with a smile. Several years ago we celebrated a special occasion at Tesoro and it has become our occasion restaurant ever since.
Eve carries her whole life in her handbag.  I am amazed when she pulls out bandaids, alcohol wipes, benedryl, eyeglass cleaner wipes, tylenol, tweezers,  a thermometer, small screwdriver, Qtips, a small flashlight, toothpicks, dental floss and the list goes on.   She would have done really well on Let's Make a Deal.   I tease her about it  and can't imagine why she would always want to lug around so much stuff, but the bandaids have come in handy, I must admit.
Or did they...   Last Tuesday we witnessed the much anticipated launch of the iPhone 6 with bigger screens. Most people I talk to are preordering them. They even launched something unexpected...ApplePay. Now, once you've scanned your credit card into your iPhone, you'll be able to just point click and pay at participating retailes everywhere.
I started writing this blog on Labor Day, the official start of the end of Summer blues and the unofficial end of Summer. Are my moody blues darker due to having experienced a once in a generation perfect Summer?  I don't know for sure, but my wistful earlier blog was not entitled "Endless Summer" by accident. Yeah, Fall is nice, but I have to wonder if the derivation of that season's name has anything to do with my feeling I'm about to fall into an icy abyss. Do you have a fear of Falling?
